On March 1, 2023, the HNU Alumni delegation, led by Yu Huamei, Director of the Office of Alumni Relations and Advancement of HNU (Center for Overseas Hainanese Friendship) and Secretary-General of HNU Alumni Association, visited Dongguan Alumni Association and some Dongguan-based enterprises run by HNU alumni. The delegation had a meeting with representatives of alumni in that city.
Li Haipeng, Secretary of the Party Committee of Zijin College of Hainan University and Deputy Secretary-General of Alumni Association, joined the delegation.
The meeting was attended by the following alumni representatives: Zeng MinSheng(Class 1982), Qi Haoyang (Class 1990), Zhou Faxiang (Class 1990), Li Hang (Class 1991), Huang Hai (Class 2002), Hou Guanghua (Class 2003), Chen Shisheng (Class 2003), Lian Jinlong (Class 2003), Zhao Wenhu (Class 2006), Feng Lanxue (Class 2004), Zhang Kai(Class 2004), Hua Yuliang (Class 2008), He Xinghua (Class 2008), Xu Changmao (Class 2011) and Ye Jingyi (Class 2013).
Besides conveying wish and greetings from the HNU leadership, Yu Huamei expressed her heartfelt thanks to the Dongguan alumni for their supports for the development of HNU. Yu said that alumni are the most precious resource and wealth of Hainan University. Currently, more than 200,000 HNU alumni are working hard in their respective positions and with their outstanding performance, they added glories to the reputation of HNU. During the meeting, Yu updated the alumni representatives with HNU’s talent cultivation, discipline development, and campus infrastructure construction in recent years. Yu said that Hainan University, guided by the instruction of “supporting Hainan University to develop world-class disciplines” by General Secretary Xi Jinping, is making all possible efforts to build the world-class disciplines and aims to be one of the first-class universities in China by seizing the opportunities brought about by constructing Hainan Free Trade Port with Chinese characteristics. At last, she extended warm invitation to the alumni, inviting them to pay frequent visits to their alma mater, exchanging experiences with the younger students, and helping them to grow and become qualified contributor to the modernization drive in China.
The delegation also did a field research in two enterprises run by the HNU alumni in the city: one is Guangdong Center Information Technology Co., Ltd. founded by Chen Shisheng, a 2003 alumnus, and another is Guangdong Longhui Environmental Testing Technology Co., Ltd. established by Zhang Kai, a 2004 alumnus.
