On the afternoon of May 19, the League of Tropical Universities (LTU) Student Program Promotion Session was held at Hebian Hall, Hainan University International Academic Exchange Center. Representatives from six LTU member universities, including Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB, Indonesia), Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM, Malaysia ), Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB, Brunei Darussalam), Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP, Malaysia), The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK), and Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR, Malaysia), delivered presentations in succession.

The presenters gave an overview of their universities, covering school size, campus environment, student activities, and distinctive teaching methods. They elaborated on the development of characteristic disciplines, cross-border talent cultivation models, international admission policies, and application requirements for international exchange programs. They also extended an invitation to students of Hainan University, expressing the hope that both sides will leverage the LTU platform to deepen the integration of academic exchanges and regional development, promote cross-border education and empower future development through collaborative efforts.

Dr. Cheong Kar Mee, representative from UTeM, stated that LTU provides a platform for professionals from different countries and universities to gather and discuss cooperation plans. She noted that UTeM focuses on engineering disciplines and expressed the hope for future collaborations with Hainan University in cutting-edge fields such as technology, big data, and artificial intelligence.
The venue was packed. Students gained valuable insights into the application criteria, curriculum structure, and campus life of the universities introduced. He Xiaoqi, a 2023-entry undergraduate majoring in Finance at Qingyun College, commented: “The detailed briefings delivered by representatives of various universities have cleared up my doubts about overseas study applications and helped me understand the application procedures of multiple institutions. I look forward to receiving more information on overseas exchange programs at Hainan University.”
Officials from relevant HNU departments and units, along with over 60 faculty and student representatives, attended the session.
