The list of Hainan Free Trade Port’s Top 10 International Sci-Tech Exchange Events for 2025 has been released, with the League of Tropical Universities (LTU) 2025 Summit, hosted by Hainan University, named among the selected events.

Held at Hainan University from April 13 to 16, 2025, the summit attracted representatives from 107 government agencies, international organizations, universities, and research institutions worldwide focused on education and scientific and technological development in tropical regions.

Under the theme “Extensive Consultation, Joint Contribution, and Shared Benefits: Towards a Shared Future of Higher Education for the Tropical Regions,” the summit delivered major outcomes, including the release of white papers and a portfolio of technology transfer projects. The event featured a council meeting on core strategic issues, a presidents’ forum on education digitalization strategies, and four parallel forums aligned with Hainan Province’s key development priorities, alongside more than ten multilateral meetings.

Since its establishment in November 2023, the League of Tropical Universities has brought together 108 member institutions from 46 countries and regions, forming a transnational, multicultural collaboration network.

The League is committed to cultivating professionals with global vision and innovative thinking, and to advancing the integrated development of education, science and technology, and talent in tropical regions.

The recognition of the LTU 2025 Summit as one of Hainan Free Trade Port’s Top 10 International Sci-Tech Exchange Events highlights the League’s role in advancing Hainan’s development as an international hub for scientific and technological exchange.It also further consolidates the League’s role as a global platform for higher education and research cooperation in tropical regions.

It is reported that the selection of Hainan Free Trade Port’s Top 10 International Sci-Tech Exchange Events for 2025 was jointly initiated by the Hainan Provincial Department of Science and Technology and Nanhai News. From international sci-tech exchange events held in the Free Trade Port in 2025, 21 candidate cases that received extensive media coverage and strong public attention were shortlisted. The final selection was made by representatives from provincial research institutes, key universities, science and technology enterprises, news organizations, and relevant provincial departments, including the Provincial Foreign Affairs Office, the Provincial Publicity Department, and the Hainan Association for Science and Technology.
