On August 12, 2025, the ASF Asian Surfing Championships 2025 concluded successfully in India. Liu Chen (2023 Intake) and Wang Chengzheng (2024 Intake), undergraduate students majoring Leisure Sports at the School of Physical Education, Hainan University, secured a silver medal in the Mixed Shortboard Relay event together with their national teammates. This achievement also guaranteed China’s qualification for the upcoming Asian Games.

A total of 121 athletes from 19 countries participated in the championships, which feature nine events: Men’s/ Women’s Shortboard Open (Individual & Team), U18 Men’s/ Women’s Shortboard (Individual & Team) and Mixed Shortboard Relay. Team China clinched three gold, three silver and one bronze medals at the Championships.
