Expanded meeting of the Leading Group for Cooperative Education is held on June 18

President Luo pointed out the CPC Central Committee attaches great importance to opening up the education sector and stressed the significance of thoroughly studying and implementing the guidelines of the Resolution of the CPC Central Committee on Further Deepening Reform Comprehensively to Advance Chinese Modernization and the Master Plan on Building China into a Leading Country in Education (2024-2035). He urged efforts to comprehensively and systematically promote the “Three Major Reforms” and actively apply for cooperative education institutions (programs) in the fields of science, engineering, agriculture, and medicine to meet Hainan’s industrial development demands.

President Luo emphasized that relevant departments must stay focused on the development goals and make coordinated efforts. It is imperative to strengthen CPC leadership to align cooperative education with national strategies, optimize disciplines through top-level design, and enhance quality by building top faculty and student cohorts. Meanwhile, international cooperation should be deepened to achieve its full potential and high-level joint research programs should be initiated to facilitate exchanges of educational resources. Besides, vigorous efforts should be made to stimulate innovation through interdisciplinary collaboration and in-depth integration between Sino-foreign cooperative education programs and traditional disciplines. Thus, new growth points can be cultivated for disciplinary development, and sustained impetus can be injected into the endeavors to build world-class disciplines and the International Education Innovation Island.

At the meeting, Vice President Yue Wen communicated the key takeaways from the Training Conference on Cooperative Education, which was organized by the Department of International Cooperation and Exchange under the Ministry of Education. Furthermore, he introduced its current development and policy guidelines, and pointed out the specific methods of implementation for HNU.

Deans from the School of International Tourism and Public Administration and the School of Information and Communication Engineering briefed the attendees on their programs. The preparatory group for the Massey International College shared their experience in the application, and the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange elaborated on the requirements for the application of Cooperative Education institutions (programs).

Representatives from the departments and schools involved in Sino-foreign cooperative education attended the meeting online or in person.
