A delegation of 20 representatives from 10 universities in Macau, led by Ge Wei, Vice President of the University of Macau (UM), visited Hainan University (HNU) on November 7. The group was accompanied by Li Yongxian, Deputy Director of the Education and Youth Work Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao S.A.R., and Hoi Ka Lou, Director of Higher Education Department at Macao’s Education and Youth Development Bureau (DSEDJ). The delegation was warmly received by Chen Jun, HNU Vice President, along with Tan Yong, Director of HNU’s United Front Work Department.

The visit began with a tour of HNU History Museum, where the delegation gained a comprehensive understanding of HNU’s history, unique characteristics, major achievements, distinguished alumni, and various accolades.

Next, the delegation visited the State Key Laboratory of Marine Resources Utilization in the South China Sea. Associate Researcher Tan E’hui briefed them on HNU’s groundbreaking research in marine biological resources, marine chemistry and ecology, digital ocean technologies, and innovative applications in resources, energy, and new materials.

The delegation also visited the laboratory of the Tropical Probiotic Resources Development Team, where Dr. Jiang Shuaiming introduced his team’s achievement in isolating tropical probiotics with multi-omics and bioinformatics technologies and applying it to traditional fermented food industry to serve Hainan’s high-yield tropical agriculture initiatives.

Finally, the delegation visited the Pico Electron Microscopy Center, a key facility at HNU’s Analysis and Testing Center (Advanced Research Center for Precision Instruments). Director Chen Jianghua, highlighted the Center’s integrated development model of talent fostering, scientific research, and testing services. He also elaborated on its significant role in helping HNU develop world-class academic disciplines and in supporting China’s national strategy of marine technology development.

Representatives from the United Front Work Department of CPC Hainan Provincial Committee, Hainan Provincial Department of Education, and HNU’s relevant departments also participated in the event.
