On the morning of August 11, the 22nd International Conference for Mesoscopic Methods in Engineering and Science (ICMMES) kicked off in Haikou. Hosted by HNU, the conference drew more than 50 experts and scholars from China, the United States, Germany, France, the United Kingdom and beyond. They held in-depth discussions on frontier topics ranging across mesoscopic computational methods, high-performance computing, AI and computational fluid dynamics, and industrial simulation software.
The opening ceremony was chaired by Prof. Li-Shi Luo from Old Dominion University. Hu Jingwei, director of the Publicity Department of HNU, attended and delivered remarks.

The five day conference featured a short-course day on August 10. Prof. Martin Geier from Technische Universität Braunschweig, research fellow Thomas Bellotti from the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS), and Prof.Paul Dellar from the University of Oxford gave lectures on the fundamentals and applications of kinetic methods.
A lecture is in progress on the short-course day of the 22nd ICMMES.
From August 11 to 14, the conference offered presentations and exchanges across 15 thematic areas, including interfacial dynamics, multiphase flows, compressible and highspeed flows, phasefield methods, numerical solutions of the Boltzmann equation, complex fluids, particle flows, boundary conditions, and mesh refinement.

The conference provided an important platform for interdisciplinary integration and innovation via mesoscopic methods. The participating experts delved into key scientific challenges, further advancing academic research and technological development in the field.
