On August 26, the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) announced the review results of projects submitted during the 2026 centralized application period. Hainan University achieved a record high with a total of 381 projects funded. This represents an increase of 66 projects, or a 21% year-on-year growth, with an average funding rate of 22.45%.

According to statistics, the NSFC received 470,561 project applications and funded 69,563 projects during the 2026 centralized application period. Projects of other categories during this window remain under review.
