Dr. Mohamed B Kharrubi, Partner and Board Member of the Abu Dhabi Investment Group (ADIG), along with Dr. He Yizhou, Vice President of China International Chamber of Commerce for the Private Sector (CICCPS), visited Hainan University (HNU) on November 11. They were accompanied by Chen Qing, Deputy Secretary of the Hainan Provincial Committee of the Communist Youth League (CYL). HNU Vice President Yue Wen met with the visitors.
Yue Wen extended a warm welcome and briefed them on HNU’s recent achievements based on Hainan’s unique geographic advantages and vigorous endeavors to develop new-quality productive forces for the Free Trade Port, in particular the progress of the League of Tropical Universities (LTU)．He stressed the great potential of education collaboration with the United Arab Emirates (UAE), a key partner of China’s BRI, expecting this visit to herald pragmatic cooperation with the universities, research institutions, enterprises, and associations in Arab countries. He also called for efforts to leverage the LTU as a multilateral platform to deepen ties and foster win-win cooperation.
Dr. Kharrubi thanked HNU for the hospitality. He hailed its remarkable progress in recent years and endorsed the proposed initiatives. He anticipated in-depth exchanges with HNU would start with student and faculty programs. He also expressed interest in expanding cooperation to such fields as food safety, medical research, and innovation and entrepreneurship. Meanwhile, Dr. Kharrubi expressed his readiness to assist HNU in establishing connections with institutions in the UAE, Africa, and South America, thereby contributing to the growth of the LTU.
