The 6th Luminary Lecture in Humanities & Social Sciences was held in the auditorium of the Tin Ka Ping Building on the morning of October 24. Qiu Jin, a special researcher from the Counselors’ Office of the State Council, delivered a keynote speech titled “Learn and Implement the Holistic Approach to National Security to Safeguard National Interests”. Attendees included Fu Xuanguo, Secretary of CPC HNU Committee, and other senior leaders Cao Bing, Gao Diangong, Zou Yonghua, Han Shumei, Tan Yong, and Yang Zhixin. The event was presided over by Gao Diangong.
Qiu outlined the background, core principles, and significance of the “Holistic Approach to National Security,” the first strategic framework of thought designated by the CPC as the guiding philosophy for national security. He emphasized that this approach is a critical theoretical tool for the CPC and Chinese people to defend national sovereignty, security, and development interests. Prioritizing people’s security, political stability, and economic resilience, it also underscores the importance of military, technological, cultural, and social security, with the aim to promote global security and establish a path for national security with Chinese characteristics.
Highlighting its essential role in safeguarding national interests, Qiu remarked that national security is foundational to China’s rejuvenation, with social stability as the prerequisite of national prosperity. Given today’s complex and changeable international landscape, he advocated for unwavering adherence to the Holistic Approach to National Security and ensuring its integration with all Party and government endeavors to maintain national and social stability, thus laying a solid foundation for national rejuvenation.
Qiu urged HNU students to cultivate integrity, take a firm political stand and keep resilient in the face of challenges. He hoped that they could cope with various kinds of pressure, follow ethical conduct, reject corruption, maintain principles, and remain committed to honorable values amid the test of time.
The auditorium was filled to capacity, with the audience engrossed in the lecture. Representatives from all campuses and science & education parks participated in person or online.
