Historic Breakthrough! Hainan University’s Agricultural Science Discipline Enters the ESI Global Top 1‰ for the First Time

On March 12, the latest data released by Clarivate’s Essential Science Indicators (ESI) showed that the Agricultural Science discipline at Hainan University entered the ESI global top 1‰ for the first time. It is HNU’s first discipline to rank in the global top 1‰ in ESI, marking a historic breakthrough in its disciplinary development.

Meanwhile, the university’s Pharmacology and Toxicology discipline also entered the ESI global top 1% for the first time. To date, HNU has 11 disciplines ranked among the ESI global top 1%, including Plant & Animal Science, Materials Science, Chemistry, Engineering, Environmental Science/Ecology, Biology & Biochemistry, Social Sciences, General, Computer Science, Microbiology, Agricultural Sciences, and Pharmacology & Toxicology.

As an internationally recognized authority for evaluating scientific research, ESI has, since its launch in 2001, updated the rankings of global research institutions every two months. These rankings are based on core indicators from the past ten years, including the number of publications, citation frequency, and the proportion of highly cited papers. Disciplines in ESI’s top 1% are regarded as internationally high-level, while those in the top 1‰ represent world-class standards.
