Hainan University Holds the 2026 Global Talent Global Talent Recruitment Webinar

On March 9, Hainan University held the 2026 Global Talent Global Talent Recruitment Webinar under the theme “Hainan Welcomes Global Talent: Powering the Future of the Free Trade Port”. The event featured two dedicated sessions for North America and Eurasia, attracting more than 1,000 young scholars online from renowned universities and research institutions, including Stanford University, Yale University, Imperial College London, National University of Singapore, the University of Hong Kong, and the University of New South Wales.

Luo Qingming, Member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and President of Hainan University, along with vice presidents Li Buhong and Chen Jun, attended the webinar.

President Luo Qingming introduced to the participants the evolving landscape and promising development opportunities of the Hainan Free Trade Port after the implementation of special customs operations. He elaborated on the university’s significant progress and high-quality development across eight key areas since President Xi Jinping announced the construction of the Hainan Free Trade Port on April 13, 2018 at the conference marking the 30th anniversary of the founding of Hainan Province:

1. The university’s pace of development ranks among the highest nationally.

2. Multiple core performance indicators place it among the top 50 universities nationwide.

3. The establishment of national-level research platforms has achieved historic breakthroughs.

4. Capabilities in scientific and technological support have been consistently enhanced.

5. Its talent support capacity has been remarkably strengthened.

6. Its role as a think tank has become increasingly prominent.

7. Its international cooperation and exchanges have been continuously deepened.

8. Infrastructure and operational conditions have been progressively improved.

He also sincerely invited global talent to join Hainan University, where they could collaborate to turn the province’s unique strengths in policy, natural resources and application scenarios into personal opportunities for innovation, entrepreneurship and growth. Together, they could contribute to a brighter future for the Hainan Free Trade Port.

Li Buhong, delivered a thematic report on talent development, systematically outlining the university’s strategies and practices in attracting and cultivating high-level talents from four dimensions: talent policies, outcomes achieved, approaches adopted and future objectives.

Chen Jun, one of the school leaders, delivered a thematic report on scientific research, highlighting the university’s latest research advances, state-of-the-art platforms and leading innovation teams.

Representatives of outstanding talents shared their motivations for returning to China after overseas studies and choosing Hainan University, as well as their professional growth and reflections since joining the university. During the Q&A session, Li Buhong responded in detail to questions from the participants .

The event was designed to offer global talent a window into the Free Trade Port and Hainan University, assisting scholars in gaining deeper insights into the university’s research innovations and talent policies, and fostering collaboration toward the development of the Hainan Free Trade Port.
