Hainan University Honors Class of 2025 at Undergraduate Graduation Ceremony

HAIKOU, June 18, 2025--Amidst the vibrant red blooms of Delonix regia trees along Dongpo Lake, Hainan University (HNU) conferred bachelor’s degrees on 6,632 undergraduates at its 2025 Graduation Ceremony. Held at the Multi-functional Stadium, the event not only celebrated students’ academic milestones but also symbolized their launch into the next chapter of life.

HNU President Luo Qingming, Member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and Chair of the Academic Degree Evaluation Committee, attended the ceremony. Also present were Hainan University leaders including Zhang Jiyou, Gao Diangong, Qiu Xiguang, He Yong, Zou Yonghua, Li Buhong, Yue Wen, Zhu Xiaofeng, Han Shumei, Tan Yong, and Yang Zhixin. Vice president Li Buhong presided over the ceremony.

The ceremony commenced with the solemn strains of the national anthem.

In his speech titled “Thrive in Sync with Hainan Free Trade Port, Strive Forward with Confidence and Open Mind”, President Luo reflected on the Class of 2025’s transformative journey over the past four years. He likened their growth to sun-seeking Delonix regia trees, whose vibrant blossoms symbolize the resilience and confidence forged through academic rigor—a testament to China’s new generation.

Luo noted that such remarkable character springs from a thriving China in this new era, the nation’s inclusiveness and openness to the outside world, and HNU’s enduring spirit of innovation and perseverance. Luo emphasized that HNU now stands closer than ever to achieving its “Double First-Class” mission of becoming a comprehensive, research-oriented, and internationalized university. He urged graduates to carry forward this hard-won confidence.

“This steadfast confidence will empower you to embrace your own bright future,” President Luo affirmed. He expressed conviction that the graduates would pioneer new paths in their respective fields by unwaveringly pursuing their dreams, upholding HNU’s legacy of “Inclusiveness and Aspiration”, and writing their own glorious chapters amid the tides of the era. Luo added, “Wherever your journey leads, your alma mater will forever remain your spiritual haven, and you will undoubtedly become its most radiant ambassadors.”

Zhang Jiyou, Executive Deputy Party Secretary of Hainan University, announced the list of Outstanding Graduates, and President Luo presented awards to the graduate representatives.

Vice President Gao Diangong read out the degree conferral resolution. All members of Hainan University’s Party Committee and other university leaders adjusted the tassels for undergraduate representatives and presented them with degree certificates.

Fu Ruifangfei, Saifutdinov Iskandar, Wang Xiaohong, Chen Jiagang, and Fang Tengfei also addressed at the ceremony, representing HNU undergraduates, international students, faculty, parents and alumni respectively.

“Our dear Alma Mater has equipped us with courage to brave the tides, and our dear mentors have forged our resilience,” declared graduates in their new academic gowns designed by HNU students. May every HNUer forever cherish this azure sea and clear sky, uphold the mission to advance Hainan’s development, and fearlessly stride toward new horizons.

The ceremony was attended by the heads of academic and administrative units from Hainan University, alongside representatives of alumni, faculty, undergraduates, and parents.
