The packed audience were engrossed in the speeches delivered by the Nobel laureates and world-renowned experts. Prof. Hong Yue from HNU’s School of Life and Health Sciences noted that the conference was a coveted opportunity for young scholars to engage directly with the top experts and she felt proud of HNU’s role in hosting such a prestigious event. It displayed HNU’s growing influence in the studies of life sciences, which inspired her to work harder to publish more papers in international journals.”
Wang Chang, an HNU sophomore majoring in Biological Sciences, expressed her thrill at the chance to connect with the world’s leading scientists and learn about the latest advancements in life sciences. She praised the event’s organizers and volunteers for their efforts to facilitate academic exchanges.
Throughout the event, HNU volunteers, easily identifiable in their green uniforms, offered guidance and translation services to the attendees. Nie Xiaobo, a junior student majoring in AI, recalled his volunteering experience in this global event and said he took pride in helping the attendees and seeing their smiles.
Under the theme “One World, One Health”, the three-day conference aimed to promote research, innovation and international exchanges and cooperation in life sciences, with 42 sub-forums covering critical topics such as plant biodiversity, ecological civilization, “One Health”, and emerging infectious diseases. The event also featured two special forums for women scientists and rising stars in the field, along with exhibitions of the latest breakthroughs, technological innovations, and applications in various industries, injecting fresh impetus into the future of life sciences.
The Conference, co-organized by 21 member societies of CULSS, China Women’s Association for Scientist and Technology (CWAST), Yazhou Bay National Laboratory, and Zhong Shen Yin (Hainan) Technology Co., Ltd., brought together over 300 leading experts in life sciences from 25 countries. Senior officials from Hainan Provincial Government, Qionghai Municipal Government, and the Association of Science and Technology at different levels were also in attendance.
