HNU President Luo Qingming welcomed the experts and scholars in attendance. He emphasized that HNU, guided by the vision “whenever a demand arises in Hainan, HNU can always step forward and get things done”, has been optimizing the top-level design, strengthening key disciplines, and accelerating the development of its physics-related programs. To cater to the development of Hainan Free Trade Port and other national strategic priorities, HNU’s School of Physics and Optoelectronic Engineering has created a research platform with local features. Luo noted that HNU as the event organizer would make an all-out effort to ensure its success, and meanwhile hoped that the event would spark new ideas to advance physics studies.

The event featured a wide range of activities, including the Women in Physics Working Group Meeting/Roundtable, the International Union of Pure and Applied Physics (IUPAP) Public Lecture: Nobel Prize in Physics Special Session, and the IUPAP Special Symposium on Physics Research for a Sustainable Earth. These activities provided an important platform for interdisciplinary exchanges and showcased cutting-edge achievements in physics. They promoted scientific discussion and fostered collaboration among scholars, injecting new impetus into China’s physics studies.
Since its inception in 1999, the CPS Fall Meeting has thrived into one of the largest and most comprehensive academic events in China’s physics community, drawing significant international attention. This year’s four-day event featured 21 specialized sub-forums, covering topics such as particle physics, field theory and cosmology, nuclear physics and accelerator physics, as well as atomic and molecular physics.
Attendees included senior officials from CPS, NSFC, Hainan Provincial Department of Science and Technology, Hainan Provincial Department of Education, and Hainan Association for Science and Technology, leaders of related universities, research institutes and enterprises, and representatives of HNU faculty and students.
