To further advance internationalization and promote high-level global cooperation in the new era, Hainan University (HNU) signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for bilateral collaboration with the Papua New Guinea (PNG) University of Natural Resources and Environment (UNRE) on the afternoon of September 10. Aisak Pue, Executive President of UNRE, and Chen Jun, Vice President of HNU, attended the signing ceremony.
MOU Signing Ceremony
In his speech, Chen extended a warm welcome to the UNRE delegation who were on their second visit to HNU. He introduced HNU’s international programs, highlighting the League of Tropical Universities (LTU) that HNU initiated. Chen emphasized that the League aims to foster collaboration among its partners in the domains such as talent training, scientific research, and cultural exchanges. He expressed HNU’s willingness to collaborate with UNRE under the framework of LTU, particularly in faculty/student exchange and joint research, with the goal of promoting higher education and socio-economic development in tropical regions.
Aisak Pue remarked that formalizing a partnership with HNU opens a new chapter in bilateral cooperation. Despite its smaller scale, UNRE plays a crucial role in the education and research within PBG’s natural resource sector. He expressed UNRE’s eagerness to join the LTU and strengthen academic exchanges and promote student/faculty exchange with HNU, in the hope of enhancing the education quality and deepening educational collaboration bilaterally and globally in tropical regions.
