In Luo’s closing remarks, he interpreted HNU’s development concept of “support and leadership, winning with characteristics, high-level integration, openness and innovation”. He said that in order to promote innovation in marine science and technology and development of marine industry, we should leverage Hainan’s unique resources to meet the scientific and engineering challenges; we should lay more stress on the goal-oriented, outcome-oriented, task-oriented and talent-oriented philosophy to develop HNU, and promote the deep integration of disciplines through such measures as the establishment of large-scale projects, scientific research platforms and the refinements of top-level design; we should also create new and better ways to cultivate high-caliber talents; the faculty and students should be further inspired and guided by the “Hainan University Spirit”, and carve out a place in the field of marine sci-tech, thereby providing technical support for Hainan’s related industries.

Afterwards, Zou explained the latest development and achievements of HNU's marine science and technology innovation to the faculty and student representatives.

Following the agenda, Professor Gao Shuji from the State Key Laboratory of Marine Resources Utilization in the South China Sea, Professor Shen Yijun and Tian Xinlong from the School of Marine Science and Engineering of HNU, and Professor Chen Jianghua from the Analysis and Testing Center (Higher Research Center for Precision Instruments) of HNU shared their insights on team building, project planning, platform development, and cultivation of research results.
