On the morning of January 10, 2023, a garden bench donation ceremony was held in front of the library on Haidian campus to celebrate the 65th anniversary of HNU. President Luo Qingming, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, attended the ceremony. Qiu Xiguang and Chen Mingbao, members of the Standing Committee of CPC HNU Committee and senior university officials, heads of related departments, alumni representatives, some teachers and students were also present at the ceremony.

Addressing the ceremony, President Luo expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the alumni donors and shared updates of the university. He said that these garden benches will help build a modern and beautiful campus with tropical features in the university. Alumni representatives including Chen Jibo ('06 Law), Executive Director of Hainan Changyu Law Firm, Xue Jianbing (‘92 Food Engineering), General Manager of Hainan Bowei Printing Co., Ltd., and Cai Zejin (‘82 Food Processing), Executive Vice President of Haikou Alumni Association, attended the ceremony and delivered speeches. Senior university officials presented donation certificates to alumni donors.

After the ceremony, attendees took a tour of the garden benches, which were donated by alumni (individuals, groups, associations, and enterprises) through the donation program jointly initiated by the Haikou Alumni Association and HNU Alumni Association. A total of RMB 468,600 were raised from the program, which means 202 benches were to be donated.
