The School of International Communication is Unveiled on Monday

The School of International Communication of Hainan University was officially unveiled on Monday (September 4, 2023) in Tianjiabing Building in Haidian campus.

Fu Xuanguo, Secretary of CPC Hainan University Committee, spoke at the ceremony, indicating that the University has always been attaching importance to the development of humanities and social sciences and the School of International Communication is the first school of this kind established among comprehensive universities across the country. He expressed his hope that the School step up its effort in cultivating talents, discipline development and thus contributing to the construction of Hainan Free Trade Port.

Jiang Jianmin, vice director-general of the Publicity Department of CPC Hainan Provincial Committee, extended on behalf of the Department his congratulatory message to the establishment of the School.

Gao Diangong, vice president of HNU, read out the congratulatory letters from the following key universities in China: Tsinghua University, Peking University, Renmin University of China, Tianjin University, Nankai University, Shandong University, Nanjing University and Fudan University.

Jiang Jianmin, Cao Xiankun (Secretary of CPC Department of Education Committee), Fu Xuanguo, Gao Diangong, and Zheng Libo, Dean of the School, jointly unveiled the nameplate of the School.

The School of International Communication is expected to cultivate international professionals capable of telling China’s stories well to the world, and help promote the construction of Hainan Free Trade Port. Currently, the School has 46 full-time teachers, including 26 with senior titles and 11 with overseas study and work experience. Offering two Bachelor’s Degree Programs (Communication Studies; Theater, Film, and Television Literature) and two Master’s Degree Programs (Journalism and Communication; Theater, Film and Television), the School has an enrollment of nearly 700 full-time undergraduate and postgraduate students.

The ceremony was attended by officials from the Publicity Department of CPC Hainan Provincial Committee, the Department of Education of Hainan Province and leadership of Hainan University as well as all students and faculty members of the School.
