On the morning of September 10, 2025, Hainan University (HNU) held a ceremony to celebrate the 41st Teachers’ Day in the Auditorium of Siyuan Hall. Li Hu, Chairman of the HNU Council, Luo Qingming, HNU president and academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), as well as other university leaders, including Zhang Jiyou, Gao Diangong, Qiu Xiguang, He Yong, Zou Yonghua, Li Buhong, Yue Wen, Zhu Xiaofeng, Han Shumei, Yang Zhixin attended the ceremony. The event was presided over by Vice President Li Buhong.
The celebration commenced solemnly with the national anthem.
Li Hu, on behalf of the CPC HNU Committee, extended festive greetings to all faculty members, paid high tribute to those with 30 years of teaching service and retiring colleagues, and offered warm congratulations to outstanding teachers with different-level commendation. He emphasized that the University has always kept in mind General Secretary Xi Jinping’s earnest instruction of “supporting Hainan University in building world-class disciplines”, implementing the principle of Party’s leadership over talent work, and fully executing the talent-driven development strategy. By precisely attracting prominent professionals, meticulously fostering talent, strategically utilizing specialized experts, and sincerely retaining competent personnel, the University has achieved significant improvement in the quality of its talent pool.

Li Hu encouraged all faculty members to stay firm in ideals and convictions, acting as practitioners who remain true to the original mission of education—strengthening theoretical learning, adhering to the bottom line of nurturing talent, and fostering a profound sense of national identity.
He encouraged all teaching staff to foster noble ethics, working as dedicated cultivators of top-tier talent—consolidating the foundation of teacher ethics, exemplifying role models, and innovating educational approaches.
Li finally called on all staff to embrace the “nation’s grand strategy”, serving as pioneers in advancing scientific and technological innovation—aligning with national strategies and the needs of Hainan Free Trade Port, delving into specialized fields, and deepening the integration of industry and education.
Luo Qingming, HNU president, passed on the gist of the Outline for Building a Strong Education Nation (2024–2035), and opinions issued by the provincial Party committee and government on accelerating the development of a leading education province in alignment with the Outline.

Luo Qingming, also a member of CAS, emphasized that the construction of the Hainan Free Trade Port (FTP) is about to enter a new phase of island-wide independent customs operations, a stage where strategic empowerment from education, science and technology, and talent is more critical than ever before. Under the guidance of the provincial Party committee and government’s principles—which call for “accelerating the development of world-class universities and distinctive disciplines, creating a Hainan model for integrated advancement of education, science, and talent, aggregating global top-tier educational resources, and promoting high-level internationalization of Hainan’s education”—the entire university community must strengthen confidence and resolve in building a first-class University. By leveraging the three major reforms and the seven key tasks (four initiatives and three projects), we will make our due contribution to the building of a strong education nation and developing a leading education province.
In the ceremony, honorary certificates were presented to outstanding faculty members, including recipients of the National March 8th Red Banner Holder Award, Baosteel Excellent Teacher Award, Teaching Innovation Competition prizes, as well as Hainan Provincial Outstanding Teachers, Educators, and Advanced Workers.
Newly appointed faculty members took the oath, followed by speeches from representatives of student, in-service teachers, and retired faculty.
