Based on his rich personal and research experiences at home and abroad over the past decades, Prof. Chien used “seven words”—passion, commitment, understanding, innovation, collaboration, communication, and dedication to summarize a fulfilling life and academic career. He encouraged the students to devote themselves whole-heartedly to their pursuits, emphasizing that every choice is an opportunity to excel and contribute to society.
Through sharing stories of his family, upbringing, and pioneering contributions to the field of biomedical engineering, Prof. Shu underscored the importance of teamwork in the research activities for college students. He also recounted his collaborations with international researchers, encouraging them to interact and cooperate with each other to transcend individual capabilities.
The “Academic Navigation Lectures on Biomedical Engineering” are a lecture series jointly organized by the Hainan Society of Biomedical Engineering and HNU School of Biomedical Engineering. Under the backdrop of building Hainan FTP and implementing national sci-tech strategies, the series aims to cultivate new productive forces for Hainan’s biomedical engineering industries through international academic exchanges. Meanwhile, it seeks to promote the integration of education development, technological innovation and talent nurturing with top-notch scientists and researchers as the role models.
The auditorium was fully packed and the audience was engrossed in the lecture. A lively Q&A session ensued and Prof. Chien gave detailed and insightful answers.
Nearly 2,000 people attended the event, both online and in person, including the heads of relevant departments of HNU, and teachers and students from all the campuses and science & education parks.
