The 33rd Distinguished Scientist Lecture was held at the auditorium of the Social Sciences Complex on the afternoon of December 5. The keynote speaker, Tan Jianrong, a member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE) and a professor at Zhejiang University’s School of Mechanical Engineering, delivered a lecture titled “Key Technologies and Development Trends of Intelligent and Humanoid Robots”. Secretary of CPC HNU Committee Fu Xuanguo attended, and HNU President Luo Qingming, also a member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), chaired the lecture.

Prof. Tan began his lecture by defining intelligent robots and comparing them with traditional robots. He systematically outlined the three essential elements of intelligent robots—sensing, movement, and thinking—and categorized them into three types based on their level of intelligence: sensory, interactive, and autonomous. He highlighted their core features, including individual autonomy, multi-robot collaboration, and human-machine integration. With the research of his own team as the example, he delved into key areas such as intelligent workstation design, robotic task planning and programming, process parameter optimization, and robot body design and development, providing insights into the critical technologies and the future trends of intelligent and humanoid robots.
The lecture attracted a packed audience. A lively Q&A session followed, during which Prof. Tan gave detailed and insightful answers.
