Profile of Scientific Research

The school has two key social science research bases in Hainan Province, namely, the Research Center of Chinese Literature in Hainan Province and the Research Base of History and Culture in Hainan Province. In the past five years, 24 new national social science projects have been established, including one major project approved by the Central Ancient Book Rationalization Leading Group, two major projects and two key projects of the National Social Science Council, and 11 projects have been completed. The school has established 2 new projects of the Ministry of Education, 1 project of the Ministry of Culture, 18 provincial social science projects, and it has published 67 books and more than 200 academic papers, including more than 90 papers in CSSCI core journals. It has won 15 awards at the provincial and ministerial levels or above, hosted 17 international and domestic academic conferences, 8 philosophical workshops, 6 Nanming Literature and Philosophy postgraduate academic salons, and hosted 85 lectures.

The idea of high-quality development of scientific research is to work on both sides, with equal emphasis on local services and basic research. 1. Research on the history and culture of Hainan. With the support of the historical and cultural bases of Hainan Province, it carries out research on Hainan's history and culture, historical documents of the South China Sea, Hainan dialect and minority languages, minority literature, and folk culture. 2. Aesthetic theory and literary criticism. With the support of the Research Center for Chinese Literature in Hainan Province, it carries out research on Chinese and Western literary theories, focusing on the in-depth impact of media changes on contemporary literary production, sorting out the relationship between modern and contemporary history of thought, social history and literary creation, focusing on the status of current creative work, conducting critical interpretation, telling Chinese stories, and leading the spirit, and conducting in-depth research on the relationship between contemporary literature and the theory of civilization with an interdisciplinary perspective.

Focus on fostering high-level projects to achieve qualitative and quantitative breakthroughs in high-level scientific research results. Taking the six existing scientific research and innovation teams of the discipline as the core, we will gather the strength of the teams and strive to be in the forefront of the domestic academic circles in the fields of contemporary literary criticism and theoretical research, research on the history and culture of Hainan, marine literature and port culture of the Free Trade Port, research on the dialects (languages) of Hainan, Chinese culture and philosophy, and Western philosophy and history of thought. We will strive for the establishment of national major or key projects, enhance the number of major topics of the National Social Science Foundation or at provincial and ministerial levels, publish a series of academic books, anthologies and teaching materials, as well as publish a series of high-level academic papers, and enhance the reputation and academic influence of the discipline. At the same time, based on the subjectivity of Chinese culture, we should strengthen our cultural confidence, maintain integrity and respect the past without returning to the past. At the same time, we should focus on the development trend of world history and human culture, and aim to reexamine, reread, and rewrite the "history of Western philosophy" and "history of human civilization". We should resolve and reverse the "intelligent civilization" of the West, which only knows its existence but does not know its absence with Chinese philosophy, and consciously shoulder the cultural mission of the new era. Based on Hainan Free Trade Port and with an open and inclusive mindset, we will focus on developing the study of the "South China Sea Civilization", which is different from the "Mediterranean Civilization" in terms of civilization forms and civilization qualities, and make an in-depth comparison of the two civilizations in terms of the world's topography, cultural plates, civilization types, and geographic conditions. We will make an in-depth comparison of the quality differences and mutual understanding between the two civilizations, and contribute our talents to the national "South China Sea Strategy" and the "Belt and Road " Initiative.
