Department of Chinese Language and Literature

The Chinese Language and Literature major was established in 1983. In 2002, the second-level disciplines of literature and art, comparative literature, and world literature obtained the qualification for a master's degree authorization. In 2010, the first-level discipline of Chinese Language and Literature was granted qualification for a master's degree authorization. In 2016, Chinese Language and Literature was approved as a characteristic key discipline of Hainan Province. In 2019, the Chinese Language and Literature major was approved by the Ministry of Education as a national first-class undergraduate major construction site. There are 1 master program in the first-level discipline of Chinese Language and Literature and 5 master programs in the second-level discipline in this major. This major is committed to cultivating high-quality elite talents with profound humanistic literacy, solid professional knowledge, broad international perspective, outstanding innovation and competitiveness, and the ability to engage in teaching, scientific research, management, and other fields to adapt to social development and various needs.

Department of Chinese Language (International Students)

The Chinese Language (International Students) Major was established on September 12, 2021, and the major began enrolling in the School of International Education in 2013 with the qualification to grant a Bachelor of Arts. This major aims to cultivate high-quality and complex Chinese language talents, the graduates of which are required to reach HSK Level 6 or above in Chinese Language Proficiency Examination, with a high level of competence in listening, speaking, reading, writing and translating in Chinese, who are able to correctly and appropriately utilize the Chinese language in oral communication and written expression; In addition, the graduates will have certain linguistic, literary and cultural research skills; familiarize with the Chinese national conditions and Chinese society, and with Chinese culture and Chinese literature; they will be capable of translating, carrying out Sino-foreign cultural exchanges, teaching Chinese, and doing business.
