In recent years, leveraging the advantages of computer science and technology disciplines, significant progress has been made in six research areas: knowledge modeling and processing, blockchain and intelligent control, human-machine-object intelligence, future networks and security, smart services and data engineering, intelligent software and systems. This progress has led to the establishment of three key laboratories and engineering centers at the provincial and ministerial levels. Major achievements have been obtained in terms of significant research innovations, patented technologies, and major research results. By 2023, research funding has reached 31.54 million yuan. It has secured one major project under China's National Science and Technology Innovation 2030 program, two national-level projects/key tasks under the National Key Research and Development Program, as well as 19 projects under the National Natural Science Foundation. Additionally, one major provincial project has been accomplished. More than 230 papers indexed in SCI and EI have been published, including 55 papers in the top-tier journals of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Over 50 national invention patents have been granted, along with 8 provincial-level awards, including the Hainan Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award, the 10th Wu Wenjun Artificial Intelligence Technology Invention Award, and awards for Outstanding Young Scientists in Hainan Province.

Discipline System

The Computer Science and Technology stands as the leading first-level discipline in Hainan Province, recognized as a prominent Class B discipline in its fifth round of accreditation. The School of CST holds a first-level master's degree accreditation in CST and a second-level professional master's degree accreditation in Software Engineering (SE).

Our school offers two undergraduate programs: CST and SE. The CST program achieved provincial first-class undergraduate program status in 2021 and was further designated as a national first-class undergraduate program in 2022, conferring graduates with a Bachelor of Engineering degree. The SE program, accredited as a provincial first-class undergraduate program in 2022, is carried out in partnership with India's National Institute of Information Technology (NIIT), referred to as the Software Engineering (NIIT) program. This program integrates top-notch educational resources from NIIT and features an advanced curriculum system. It utilizes bilingual teaching and project-based training to hone students' practical and creative skills, nurturing high-caliber international professionals in SE and internet innovation. Graduates of the Software Engineering (NIIT) program are awarded a Bachelor of Engineering degree and an international DNIIT Software Engineer certification from NIIT.

Our school currently boasts an enrollment of 1,854 students, encompassing 1,567 undergraduates and 287 postgraduates (including 29 master's students engaged in collaborations with foreign institutions). The students are well-prepared for careers in the realms of computer technology, software development, and information services, both domestically and globally, in esteemed IT companies, government agencies, and the information technology divisions of large and medium-sized enterprises and institutions.
