Exchange Programs of Hainan University
Hainan University cooperates with 31 universities in 16 countries, including Canada, Belgium, Italy, Russia, England, Finland, South Korea, Japan and Spain, to carry out exchange programs. Every year, Hainan University nominates students to overseas partner institutions for one semester or one academic year through the exchange program.
           
According to the Exchange Program Agreement signed between the university and the foreign exchange institutions, the exchange students are exempted from the tuition fees of the foreign exchange institutions, and the students are required to pay the normal tuition fees of Hainan University, individually bearing the costs of travel, living expenses, medical insurance, etc.
           
The university recognizes the credits of the courses taken by the students during the exchange period, and the methods of credit recognition or grade conversion, undergraduates will follow the notice "Hainan University undergraduates go to foreign countries (overseas) for exchange study course recognition and credit conversion management methods (for trial implementation)" issued by the Academic Affairs Office of Hainan University; postgraduates will follow the relevant regulations of the Graduate School.
           
Before submitting the application, students must communicate fully with their parents about the plan of going abroad for exchange study and obtain their consent before enrollment. Undergraduates shall consult with the teaching secretary of their teaching and research unit and the supervisor in charge of teaching and research work about the selection of courses during the exchange study period, the recognition of credits after returning to the university, making up for the courses, the evaluation of scholarships and the exemption from graduate study, etc., and propose a specific plan and obtain the consent before applying for the program; postgraduates shall consult with the supervisors and the teaching and research unit about the selection of courses during the exchange study period, the recognition of credits after returning to the university, the evaluation of scholarships, the evaluation of the dissertation. When applying for the program, graduate students should consult with their supervisors and their teaching and research units about the selection of courses during the exchange period, the recognition of credits after returning to the university, the evaluation of scholarships, thesis defense and graduation, etc., and propose a specific plan and obtain consent before applying.
           
The procedure of the exchange program is as follows (please refer to the program notice for details):

Submit application and accept selection

Announcement and nomination by the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange

Prepare application materials for the other university

The other university issues an admission notice

Apply for visa and go through the procedures for leaving school

Contact the other university to confirm pre-departure matters such as accommodation, course selection, etc.

Get a visa and book a flight

Study and exchange at the host university

End the exchange and return to school as scheduled

Transfer credits, go through school arrival procedures, and submit experience reports to the International Cooperation and Exchange Office
