The School of Marxism at Hainan University was established in June 2011 and is recognized as a key institution for Marxist studies in Hainan Province. Presently, the school boasts several notable achievements. It houses one provincial-level distinguished discipline, namely Marxist Theory, along with a doctoral program in the same field. Additionally, there are two master’s programs available: one in Marxist Theory and the other in Political Science. The school also excels in undergraduate education, being designated as a national first-rate program in Ideological and Political Education. Through these efforts, the school has successfully established a comprehensive talent development system, catering to students pursuing bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees. The school is proud to host two provincial-level research platforms: the Research Center for the Revolutionary Spirit and Cultural Resources of the Communist Party of China, which is affiliated with higher education institutions in Hainan Province, and the Research Center for the Theoretical System of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics, located at Hainan University. In addition, the school serves as the training ground for two educational bases under the Hainan Provincial Department of Education: the Training Base for Ideological and Political Theory Teachers and the Training and Research Base for Counselors in Higher Education Institutions. Within the school, there are seven teaching and research offices, including Introduction to the Basic Principles of Marxism, Mao Zedong Thought and the Theoretical System of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics, Ethics and Rule of Law, Outline of Modern Chinese History, Introduction to Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, Situation and Policy, as well as the Political Science Research Institute. The school takes pride in its responsibility of imparting knowledge in ideological and political theory courses to undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral students throughout the university.
