1. Legal Studies

(1) Training Objectives

The undergraduate legal studies program aims to cultivate high-quality legal and jurisprudential specialists who are able to adapt to the needs of modernization, globalization and informatization, with harmonious unification in morality, intelligence, physical fitness, aesthetics and healthy personalities, as well as with profound theoretical fundamentals and a solid foundation of jurisprudence, rich spirit of creativity, practical ability and broad vision, and train high-quality law practitioners, and managers of organs, enterprises and public institutions who are capable of adapting to the requirements of work of national legislature, judiciary, judicial and administrative organs, and who have the potential for further study.

(2) Training Requirements

Starting from the application field and employment direction of undergraduate students, the major takes broadening students' knowledge, consolidating professional basic knowledge, enhancing graduates' competitiveness in choosing career and adaptability to work as the main direction, and cultivating high-quality legal specialists with profound foundation, wide application, emphasis on ability, practice and comprehensive knowledge.

Specifically speaking, graduates shall acquire knowledge and ability in the following aspects:

1. Master basic theories of jurisprudence;

2. Acquire relatively complete and systematic specialized knowledge of law;

3. Be familiar with all types of litigation procedures;

4. With stronger ability to discover, analyze and solve problems;

5. With strong ability to apply legal knowledge to solve specific problems and practical operation;

6. Possess necessary computer application ability in this specialty;

7. Have a good knowledge of humanities and social sciences, and learn a certain amount of natural sciences;

8. Have good professional ethics, psychological and physical qualities.

(4) Core Courses

Jurisprudence, Chinese Legal History, Constitutional Law, Administrative Law and Administrative Litigation Law, Civil Law, Commercial Law, Intellectual Property Law, Economic Law, Criminal Law, Civil Procedure Law, Criminal Procedure Law, International Law, International Private Law, International Economic Law, Law of Environment and Resource Protection, and Law of Labor and Social Security.

(5) Major Practice Teaching

Including apprenticeship, legal aid, social investigation, thematic debates, mock trials, debates on doubtful cases, legal education in clinics, professional internships, graduation theses, etc., generally not less than 30 weeks.

(6) College Student Quality Development Credits

Quality development for college students refers to a training arrangement that requires and encourages students to participate independently in a variety of extracurricular activities that help to improve their overall quality, which has been stipulated corresponding credits at different levels. The quality development activities of this program include: social practice, volunteer service, academic innovation, entrepreneurship, culture and art, community activities, and legal assistance. Quality Development credits do not count as course credits.

(8) Award of Degree

Bachelor of Laws.

(9) Credit Requirements

Students in this program should graduate with a total of 165.5 credits, including course credits and college student development credits.

1. The total credits of the courses are 162.5 credits, of which 106.5 credits are compulsory courses, including 36.5 credits for compulsory public courses, 28.0 credits for compulsory basic courses, 42.0 credits for compulsory specialized courses; Elective courses shall not be less than 31.0 credits, including not less than 18 credits for specialized electives, not less than 3 credits for humanities and general education classics, not less than 4 credits for quality education electives, and not less than 3 credits for innovation and entrepreneurship courses; not less than 3 credits for English extension courses; 25.0 credits for practical teaching courses.

2. Not less than 3.0 credits for college student quality development.
