About us

The School of Electronic Science and Technology has a rich academic heritage dating back to the establishment of the Applied Electronics (vocational) major in 1983. In 1985, it was elevated to an undergraduate program and became the pioneering engineering program in Hainan Province authorized to grant bachelor's degrees, earning it the distinction of being a key discipline in the region. Later, the undergraduate program in Electronic Science and Technology was introduced in 2010, followed by the approval of the master's program in Electronic Information in 2012 and the doctoral program in Electronic Information in 2021. “Hainan’s challenges are overcome with the support of Hainan University.” In response to the demand for technological advancement in the Hainan Free Trade Port and national economic and social development in the context of the evolving landscape, and to promote the development of the microelectronics and integrated circuit (IC) industry, the decision was made on June 4, 2023 to establish the School of Electronic Science and Technology at Hainan University.

Aligned with national strategic initiatives and the economic progress of the Hainan Free Trade Port, particularly in the areas of land, sea and air economic development, as well as the growing demands of the marine electronic information industry in the South China Sea, the School is committed to accelerating the growth of world-class disciplines. Its primary focus lies in nurturing high-caliber engineering and technical professionals who will play instrumental roles in the microelectronics and IC industry, contributing to the enhancement of the IC industry chain in Hainan and bolstering scientific and technological innovation, ultimately elevating the industrial and technological landscape in the region.
