HNU holds activities to mark National Poverty Relief Day
Hainan University (HNU) hosted a series of activities on Oct 17 to mark the 7th National Poverty Relief Day and the 28th International Day for the Eradication of Poverty.
A fair was jointly organized by HNU and the Hainan branch of the Agricultural Bank of China to assist with the sales of poverty alleviation products.

In addition, an HNU delegation visited the students that volunteered to teach in Guangji village, Nanbao town, Lin'gao county. The HNU Teacher-Student Affairs Center donated coconut seedlings worth 20,000 yuan ($2,994) to the village, while the staff members of HNU's hospital offered free treatment to villagers.

Teachers and students of HNU's College of Physical Education had a friendly volleyball match with the villagers of Lemei village, Datian town, Dongfang, as well as donated sports supplies to them. The HNU Teacher-Student Affairs Center also purchased agricultural and sideline products to aid in local industrial development.
The year 2020 has been designated to secure a decisive victory in the fight against poverty, with the goal of building a moderately prosperous society in all respects. HNU has already helped lift Guangji and Lemei out of poverty ahead of schedule based on its intellectual and talent resources.
