HNU professor Zhang Yunge honored as National Model Educator

Zhang Yunge, dean of the College of Marxism of Hainan University (HNU), was selected among this year's 12 National Model Educators, according to a press conference held by the Ministry of Education on Sept 4.

Zhang was born in Suihua, Heilongjiang province in 1963 and obtained a doctoral degree from Jilin University in 2007. He has been committed to ideological and political education over the past 35 years, helping students build their outlooks on life, values, and the world.

Remarkably, he has spent 11 years developing a teaching model that supplements ideological and political lessons with campus, online, and social practices. The national boutique online course Basic Principles of Marxism that he takes charge of benefits 100,000 students from 95 domestic universities.

Zhang not only won the second prize of Outstanding Achievements in Education, but also was named an Annual Ideological and Political Teacher by the Ministry of Education.
