HNU organizes training class for public opinion response
Hainan University (HNU) launched a training class to increase its staff's campus network literacy in collaboration with People's Daily Online Public Opinion Data Center on Aug 27 and 28.
Meng Zhu, director of the People's Daily Online Public Opinion Data Center, gave a lecture on the features and risk response of contemporary public opinion involving universities during the training session.
Meng noted that universities can easily become the focus of public opinion and any mishandlings will damage the public image of the universities and even the higher education system. She emphasized that how to prevent and solve all kinds of public opinion risks are now a serious issue.

In regards to that, Meng purposed that universities should improve their informatization level, cope with the public opinion response in a timely and scientific manner, attach greater importance to the ideological education of students, as well as enhance the management of teachers.
Other lecturers, including Wang Ping, a researcher at China Executive Leadership Academy Pudong, and Zhao Luping, an associate professor at East China Normal University, also expounded on the trend of online ideological and political work, features of online public opinions, as well as the laws of new media communication.
