Experts instruct HNU in Ministry-Province Joint Construction
A Ministry of Education expert panel led by Gong Yuanshi, vice president of China Agricultural University, visited Hainan University (HNU) on Aug 28 to direct its work under the Ministry-Province Joint Construction Program.
There are 14 provinces that have no universities under the direct administration of the Ministry of Education. Each such province has one key university selected into the program that enjoys the same treatment as those directly under the ministry.
Gong spoke highly of HNU's achievement under the program. He urged the university to formulate the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-2025), strengthen development of key disciplines, foster a national scientific research platform and advance institutional reform.
Wu Yaoting, Party secretary of HNU, noted that the university has generated valuable and replicable experience in student cultivation, faculty construction and talent introduction under the Ministry-Province Joint Construction Program and will further improve its work based on the feedback from the expert panel.
A symposium brings together the expert panel and HNU on Aug 28.
Persons-in charge of the College of Tropical Crops and the College of Law reported their first-class discipline construction, the matchmaking between knockout disciplines and characteristic industries, and large research facility construction during the symposium.
The expert panel went on a field trip to the College of Tropical Crops and College of Law, where they had in-depth discussions with executives, discipline pacesetters and teachers.
