Hainan University students raise money for education aid programs

Twelve students of the College of Economics of Hainan University (HNU) went out on the streets to sell one-yuan (14-cent) tickets for online movies from July 18 to 21 as part of their summer vacation volunteering.

All the revenue will be donated to support education aid programs in impoverished areas in Hainan province. A total of 212 people bought film tickets after learning about the public benefits of the activity.

The HNU College of Economics currently has nine volunteer service programs, including ones related to the protection of intangible cultural heritages, the care of autistic children, science and technology development, as well as rural education. The volunteer service in 2019 totaled 3,464 hours.
