Hainan University to assist Eryuan poverty relief efforts
A delegation led by Wu Yaoting, Party secretary of Hainan University (HNU), visited Eryuan, a county in Dali Bai autonomous prefecture in western Yunnan province, from June 21 to 23 to assist its poverty alleviation efforts.
Jin Rubai, secretary general of the CPC Dali Bai autonomous prefecture committee, extended hopes that HNU will provide technical and intellectual support for the county in poverty alleviation, rural tourism development, ecological protection of Erhai Lake, talent cultivation, as well as government official, teacher, and farmer training at a symposium on June 22.
Wu assured that the university will formulate a scientific and practical plan to contribute to Eryuan's poverty relief efforts based on its academic resources and the preferential policies of the Hainan Free Trade Port.
Wang Chongmin, vice president of HNU, gave an introduction to the school's history, current situation, academic achievements, and experience in poverty alleviation.
The delegation acquired a bettering understanding of local efforts in poverty relief, rural rejuvenation, countryside tourism, wetland construction, and education during their tour to Daze Orchid Co, Liyuan and Jiangdeng villages, Eryuan No 1 Middle School, Mancheng Farm, as well as Baimicang Cultural & Creative Park.
The HNU delegates also visited Dali University on June 23 to learn about its work in ecological diversity protection, environment monitoring and protection, as well as ethnic arts inheritance and innovation. The two universities also reached an intention of cooperation in teaching, scientific research, and talent cultivation.
