HNU holds conference on Yangpu's petrochemical development
A conference centering on the petrochemical midstream and downstream industries, as well as the new materials industry in Yangpu Economic Development Zone was held at Hainan University on Nov 27.
Presided by Wang Jiming, member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, the meeting was attended by Sun Lili, Party chief of Sinopec Engineering Incorporation and also member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Dai Baohua, head of Sinopec Economics & Development Research Institute, and HNU President Luo Qingming.
Luo gave a brief introduction on a petrochemical industry development plan for Yangpu at the meeting. The plan, according to Luo, is based on the geographic advantages, rich oil and gas resources, as well as unique policy advantages of the zone. It will provide strong support for promoting the construction of the Hainan Pilot Free Trade Zone, as well as help Yangpu become a national petrochemical industry base and oil products free trade port with international competitiveness.
Sun said that it is necessary to make full use of the agglomeration advantages of the petrochemical industry, build a batch of downstream projects of the industry, as well as develop a green and low-carbon circular economy, thereby promoting sustainable and high-quality development of the Yangpu Economic Development Zone.
Dai suggested that ideas for implementing differentiated development planning should be considered. Yangpu should adhere to the integration of policy guidance and market regulation, as well as the combination of both high-end and basic petrochemical industries to build itself into a world-class petrochemical hub.
Luo Qingming, president of HNU, speaks at the conference.
