Hainan Open Economy Research Institute launched at HNU
The Hainan Open Economy Research Institute was launched at the 1st Forum on Service Trade Opening-Up and Innovation of the China Pilot Free Trade Zone, which was held at Hainan University (HNU) on Sept 21.
Establishing the think tank was a joint effort by the Development Research Center of the State Council, HNU, and the Policy Research Office of the Hainan CPC Provincial Committee. HNU's College of Economics will operate the think tank under the supervision of the Hainan Federation of Social Science Circles.
The plaque for the Hainan Open Economy Research Institute is unveiled at Hainan University on Sept 21.
The facility will conduct theoretical research and test new policies to help develop HNU's disciplines, propel Hainan's socioeconomic development, and improve the China Free Trade Zone.
Zhao Jinping, director of the academic board of the Hainan Open Economy Research Institute, said that it is necessary for Hainan to develop service trade amid the construction of the China Pilot Free Trade Zone, and that it can serve as a model for similar undertakings elsewhere.
The book Typical Cases of Service Trade Innovation and Development in the China (Hainan) Pilot Free Trade Zone was also released at the university that same day. A new edition of the book will be issued every year.
