HNU student wins grand prize at national competition

Liao Wanjie, a student of Hainan University (HNU)'s College of Tropical Crops, won the grand prize at the 7th National Undergraduate Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition for Agricultural Building Environment and Energy Engineering Majors.

Forty-nine universities from 25 provinces, municipalities, and autonomous regions, such as Zhejiang University and Nanjing Agricultural University, sent 168 teams to the competition, which took place at China Agricultural University from Aug 12 to 14.

The theme for this year's competition was Future Farms and Modern Agricultural Projects. The smart apiary designed by a team headed by Liao stood out from the on-site model mounting, expert review, project presentation, and roadshow. His teacher Zhong Zhongbing was recognized as an Excellent Instructor.

The competition was jointly sponsored by the National Universities and Colleges Agricultural Engineering Teaching Steering Committee of Ministry of Education, the Chinese Society of Agricultural Engineering, and China Agricultural University.
