Experts approve of MOE key laboratory construction in Hainan University
Construction of the Key Laboratory of the Ministry of Education (MOE) in Hainan University passed expert review on July 24. The facility will focus on the research on the inheritance and germplasm innovation of tropical-characterized forests and flowers.
An executive of the College of Forestry introduced the background, significance, advantages, scientific research achievements, development plan and supportive measures of the lab at a conference chaired by Li Renjie, head of MOE's Science & Technology Department.
An expert panel consisting of Prof Zhang Qixiang and Zhang Deqiang of Beijing Forestry University, Prof Li Yuhua from Northeast Forestry University, Prof Yin Tongming from Nanjing Forestry University, Prof Bao Manzhu of Huazhong Agricultural University, Prof He Bizhu of Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University, as well as Xu Daping, researcher of the Chinese Academy of Forestry, also attended the conference.

The experts gave full credit to the positioning and objectives of the lab, while making their suggestions on the feasibility, development trajectory, and problems in the construction. They then toured the seed breeding laboratories, molecular biology laboratories, and germplasm repositories.
Unanimous approval was given to the construction of the MOE Key Laboratory for Tropical-characterized Forests and Flowers Inheritance and Germplasm Innovation.
